We are delighted to present the impressive winning images of Certfor/PEFC Chile’s 2020 ‘Experience Forests, Experience PEFC’ photo contest.
The Chilean jury chose the three winners out of more than 1,700 photos that entered the national contest. The winning images show impressive landscapes and wildlife in Chile’s forests.
“I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the photos, from both the technical and the morphologic and symbolic aspect,” said Constanza Nuñez, professional photographer and one of the jurors.
“What touched me most is the profound love for nature and forests that we can see in the photos. Thank you for this window in these times of confinement!”
The winning images
The winner of Chile’s photo contest is Guillermo Feuerhake with his image ‘Neblina otoñal’ (‘autumn mist’), taken in Conguillío National Park in Araucanía, Chile.
“I took my photo on a very cold morning. The sun was warming the forest and the mist started to rise among the araucaria trees showing the beautiful autumn colours,” explained the winning photographer.
Guisel Soto Campos came in second with her photo ‘Entre deshielos y bosque Patagón’ (‘between thaw and the Patagonian forest’), taken in the Queulat National Park in Chile.
“After a long family walk surrounded by the Andean Patagonian flora and fauna, we captured and appreciated this unique glacier, that is in constant retreat,” she explains.
Oscar Fuentes took third place with his photo ‘Puma’, taken in Torres del Paine National Park in Southern Chile.
The prizes
For first place, Mr Feuerhake receives $800.000 Chilean pesos and a scholarship from Escuela de Fotoarte de Chile (Photography School of Chile).
Ms Campos wins $400.000 Chilean pesos and Mr Fuentes $200.000 Chilean pesos.
