Responsible Wood is an Australian forest certification system. As a non-profit, non-government organisation, we are dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third-party certification.
A global alliance
Responsible Wood is the National Governing Body for PEFC in Australia. PEFC is a membership organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland. PEFC has more than 80 members located around the world, including national certification systems, NGO’s, labour unions, business, trade associations, forest owner organisations and committed individuals. PEFC’s national members (of which Responsible Wood is one) are independent, national organisations that develop and implement the PEFC system within their country. In addition, PEFC has 31 international stakeholder members including companies, organisations and associations whose principles and objectives support PEFC’s.
To assist the Australian forestry industry, comply with the global push towards sustainability, the Australian Forestry Standard Ltd was set up in 2002 to develop the Australian Forest Certification Scheme.
