Responsible Wood supports Sustainably Grown, Australian Made.
After consultation with certified forest managers and chain of custody certificate holders from around Australia, Responsible Wood has launched a new Sustainably Grown, Australian Made supporting statement logo to help promote our core values.
If you are eligible and would like to use the logo, please contact us here.
The supporting statement has been created in two variants; a graphic stamp or pre-set type. The new supporting statement “stamp” features a stylized map of Australia and the words “Sustainably Grown, Australian Made”.
Examples of the “stylized map” logo and “pre-set type” variant are shown below.
Why Sustainably Grown, Australian Made?
The supporting statement is aimed at helping forest management and chain of custody certificate holders communicate to their customers about how and where their goods were grown and made.
Many Australian businesses feel it is important to communicate to their customers where their products come from and where they were made. Australia is known internationally for the quality of our wood fibre and timber and Responsible Wood sees the value in helping promote this message.
Consumers can have confidence that when they read “Sustainably Grown, Australian Made” they are protecting Australia’s forests for the next generation and supporting domestic timber industry supply chains.
The message of Sustainably Grown?
Sustainably grown forests create outcomes that are socially just, culturally relevant, ecologically sound, and economically viable – our four pillars of sustainability. For Responsible Wood and PEFC, the term sustainably grown offers a holistic approach to sustainability. We cannot separate, compartmentalize or address individually these pillars. If one pillar is missing, we cannot protect our forests, forest-dependent communities and rural economies cannot thrive, illegal logging will not be abated and development opportunities will not be captured.
Organisations certified to our sustainable forest management standard are independently audited each year against internationally endorsed and science-based, world-class standards. Responsible Wood is the national governing body for PEFC International and is an accredited standards development organiation in Australia and New Zealand. Our standards ensure forest activities deliver social, cultural, environmental, and economic benefits, whilst balancing human needs and conserving cultural and environmental values so that these needs can be met not only in the present but also for generations to come. In an Australian context, our standard has been tailored to the needs of the specific forest ecosystems here in Australia, including the legal and administrative frameworks, the socio-cultural context, and other relevant factors.
