Responsible Wood is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 Responsible Wood Community Grants Program. The initiative supports projects that celebrate and strengthen the link between certified forests and the people who rely on them, for recreation, learning, wellbeing and culture.
This year’s judging panel was truly spoilt for choice, with an exceptional calibre of applications demonstrating strong community impact and a deep connection to forests and sustainably sourced timber across Australia.
Projects spanned a diverse range of ideas and outcomes, including interpretive forest signage, nature-based play spaces, Indigenous-led restoration projects, community-driven ecological surveys, habitat protection initiatives, trailers for collecting fallen timber for repurposing, and skills development and youth programs grounded in forest connection.
In 2025, grants have been awarded to the following projects:
-
Nature Glenelg Trust – Digging Abundance: surveys of the Southern Brown Bandicoot population in the Green Triangle region
-
King Island Landcare Group (KILG) – Protecting and connecting visitors to Pegarah State Forest
-
Hunter Mountain Bike Association – The TNT (Timber ’n’ Turns) Trail
-
Port MacDonnell Landcare Group – New Landcare trailer
The judging panel wishes to emphasise that the high number of applications meant many strong projects could not be funded this year. Unsuccessful applications were not lacking in quality or merit; rather, the outcome reflects the volume of interest in the program.
Applications for the next round of the Community Grants Program will open in late 2026 and all applicants are encouraged to reapply.
