BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA – 12/02/2020
Responsible Wood, Australia’s largest forest certification scheme, has extended its thanks to all volunteers, fire fighters and timber workers involved in the Australian bushfire season.
Following the release of a new video, developed by the Victorian Association of Forest Industries (VAFI), the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU), the Australian Forest Products Association (AFPA) and the Australian Forest Contractors Association (AFCA), Responsible Wood acknowledged the tireless effort of firefighters, emergency services and volunteers who have selflessly sought to protect and provide for tens of thousands of people.
“We acknowledge that many Responsible Wood members and certificate holders have been significantly impacted by the bushfires and are committed to work with all members and certificate holders.”
“Fire related matters will be given the highest priority in the continued provision of the AS / NZS 4708 – Sustainable Forest Management standard.”
“The video, developed by VAFI, the CFMEU, AFPA and the AFCA, is extremely powerful and we encourage all members and certificate holders to view the video,” Mr Dorries said.
