Sustainable Forest Management, Sustainability & Decarbonisation
At the Sustainable Industrial Manufacturing – Asia Pacific Conference (SIM-PAC Live) held on December 2-3, 2024, Responsible Wood was honoured to receive the Primary Sector Sustainability Award. This recognition underscores our ongoing commitment to promoting certified sustainable forestry as a key solution for reducing embodied carbon across supply chains.
The conference brought together leaders and innovators in industrial sustainability, showcasing actionable solutions to decarbonise industries. Responsible Wood’s participation highlighted the essential role of forest management and chain of custody certification in achieving a circular economy and supporting low-carbon industrial manufacturing.

Certified Forestry’s Role in Decarbonisation
Certification to Responsible Wood’s standards AS/NZS 4708 and AS 4707 ensures materials are responsibly sourced, fostering trust, transparency, and sustainability throughout the forest product supply chain. By adopting certified forest products, industries can make meaningful strides toward reducing embodied carbon, aligning with broader decarbonisation and sustainability goals.
Reflecting on the award, Matt de Jongh commented,
“Winning this award is a reminder of the impact certification can have across industries. It’s about transforming supply chains to drive positive environmental change.”
A Platform for Actionable Change
SIM-PAC Live is recognised as the Asia Pacific region’s premier forum for sustainable manufacturing, connecting stakeholders through keynotes, networking, and thought leadership. Responsible Wood’s involvement showcased the importance of collaboration in promoting sustainability across the forest product industry.

Matt added his final thoughts on the award and event,
Events like SIM-PAC Live inspire meaningful discussion, allow for necessary benchmarking and hopefully bring about actionable change. We’re proud to develop standards that contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future where healthy forests are at the forefront. This award motivates us to continue advocating for the greater adoption of certified forest products to meet the growing demand for sustainability in the built environment. Together, we can drive meaningful change… one certified product at a time.
